Lismore Rowing Club hopes to showcase the sport and the city with new regatta

LISMORE Rowing Club hosted its inaugural regatta 5km regatta on the weekend with the aim of making it an annual event.

The club has produced its fair share of teenage rowers in recent years through its association with Trinity Catholic College.

It was on for young and old on the weekend with the oldest competitor Peter Mears competing at 87 while the youngest competitor was 13-year-old Sebastian Cox.

Mears only started rowing nine years ago with his team mare Nick Reeves who is 86 and has been rowing for 70 years.

They are part of a team called 'Dad's Army who train four times a week and are proud to represent the Grafton Rowing Club.
