Grand opening of Vue Eco Village at Goonellabah this weekend

A local property development group is about to release the first apartments in a project it hopes will become a model to help ease the housing affordability crisis.

Green Vision Developments says its Vue Eco Village on Casuarina Drive Goonellabah is being built with a sustainable and energy independent prefabricated housing construction system that will set a national benchmark for affordable sustainable living.

Managing Director Scott Wharton said the need for such a development had never been greater.

"The region's vacancy rate is currently less than one per cent, so there is a real need for new affordable living spaces, particularly for people working in key service industries."

Working with a team that included Harley Graham Architects and sustainability experts Omnexa Group, Green Vision's apartments have been cleverly designed to integrate with the natural environment and constructed using green and renewable building materials.

The stage one release will include two bedroom apartments and a limited number of one bedroom plus study apartments.

Apartments range in size from 81 sqm to 98 sqm, and feature open-plan living with sustainable timber flooring, high-quality custom stone bench tops and ABI Interiors kitchen and bathrooms fittings throughout. Each apartment also has an option to include a designer kitchen with integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

Vue is set on a 16ha hillside property with sweeping valley views, a wealth of open space and a koala population. It will offer residents open-living shared spaces, including a heated 25 metre pool, a pavilion and community space, barbecue facilities, gym and a tennis court for residents and their guests.

Organic fresh fruit and vegetables will be grown in onsite permaculture gardens, managed by experienced gardeners, and will be available all year around at a minimal expense for residents. Fruit and citrus trees will be planted throughout on community property for residents to enjoy.

Local Bangalow Landscape architects LARC and Nicolas Ward Landscapes have collaborated to include advanced local natives plantings throughout. The landscape will benefit from the rain and stormwater reuse systems designed specifically to supply constant water.

The Village will be completely energy-independent via solar and battery storage systems, saving residents a substantial amount on their power bills. Vehicle-charging connections will also be available within the private carports of each apartment.

The first display unit at Vue will be open for inspection at the public grand opening this Saturday, June 5, from 10am-1pm, where a limited number of units for sale will be released.

A coffee cart, food truck and kids' entertainment will also be on site.

Selling agents for Vue, Christian Sergiacomi and Brad Cranfield of Pacifico Property will also be on site.
