NORPA offers acting workshops for kids and adults in April

NORPA, the region's leading theatre company, is offering two sets of acting workshops in April: a School Holiday Acting Intensive for young people (ages 12-16 years) and Open Acting Workshops for Adults (18+).

Acclaimed actor and NIDA teacher Scott Johnson, NORPA Artistic Director Julian Louis and leading professionals will present the workshops in NORPA's fully equipped Studio and Theatre at Lismore City Hall.

KIDS WORKSHOPS

The School Holiday Youth Intensive runs over three consecutive days from Tuesday 13 - Thursday 15 April, 9am to 3:30pm daily

Lead by NORPA's new Director Youth Theatre Scott Johnson, who trained at NIDA, the intensive will allow young people to immerse themselves in the craft of acting, covering the foundations of professional actor training. From voice to movement, improvisation to text work, stagecraft and character work, participants will be able to develop their skills and creativity, and connect with other young people. Guest teaching artists will also dropping for specialist sessions over the three days.

ADULTS CLASSES 

Adults will have the opportunity to brush up their acting skills and discover new ways to make a scene in a series of acting workshops led by NORPA artistic director, Julian Louis. This block of workshops will cover a broad range of acting techniques and is open to trained performers or people interested in performing.

It will also be an opportunity to learn about some of the theatre making processes that NORPA uses in the creation of new works

"In addition to developing your skills, these two-hour workshops are a great way to meet other members of the Northern Rivers artistic community and introduce yourself to the company as it move towards casting its 2022 productions," Julian Louis said.

The adult workshops will be held from 6.30pm-8.30pm on April 13, 20, and 27 April, May 4. Cost is $150 for all four workshops, or there is a drop-in rate of $50 per class. Bookings and more information: www.norpa.org.au or email info@norpa.org.au.
